How to deal with high-temperature battery in case of leakage?

In case of leakage of high-temperature batteries (such as lithium-ion batteries), be careful and follow proper procedures to minimize the risk of injury or damage to the environment.

The following are the steps to deal with the leakage of high-temperature battery:

Wear gloves and goggles to protect hands and eyes.

Remove the battery from the equipment and place it on a non-flammable surface, such as concrete.

If the battery is still hot, let it cool before handling.

Carefully wipe any visible electrolyte leaked from the battery with a dry cloth or paper towel. Do not touch the liquid with your bare hands.

Use absorbent materials, such as sand, baking soda or cat litter, to cover the liquid and absorb the remaining electrolyte. This will help neutralize the acidity of the electrolyte and prevent its diffusion.

Put the battery in a sealed plastic bag or container and send it to the recycling center to accept the damaged or faulty battery. Do not throw the battery into the garbage can or burn it.

Clean the leaking area of the battery with soap and water to remove any remaining electrolyte residue.
